This timeless recording by Thomas Moore centers on his best-selling book Care of the Soul. While discussing the relationships between the soul and work, and money and creativity, Moore says: "The soul is greater than the smallness of our problems and our pasts. It is a part of our whole experience of the universe, and caring for the soul is not about introspection. Nor is it about understanding the mistakes our parents made." Moore's view of the soul helps listeners to stop obsessing about the small stuff, and instead helps frame our lives in a broader and more healthful context.

This recording of excerpts from a workshop by the author has some of the advantages and disadvantages of a live recording. Moore seems energized by the workshop's participants. At times he lectures; at other times he fields questions and uses them as starting points for additional insights into the ideas in his books. Initially, he is mindful of the need to repeat comments and questions from the participants, but at other times he engages in dialogue that is not audible in the recording. He has a casual manner and style. Some familiarity with his work is recommended to get the most out of this production. J.E.M. (c) AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine
