Number one New York Times best-selling author of the Princess Diaries, Meg Cabot knows the difficulties (real or otherwise) of awkward teenage years. In Twilight, Cabot continues her series about Suze Simon, the teenage mediator with an other-worldly boyfriend, Jesse de Silva. Johanna Parker depicts the bittersweet nature of Suze Simon's gift as a mediator, one who communicates with ghosts and helps them move on to the afterlife. Sixth in the Mediator series, this story charts new struggles for the teenaged Suze. She's attracted to a ghost, Jesse (who died 150 years ago), and has conflicted feelings for her fellow mediator, Paul. Paul so badly wants to date Suze that he threatens to interfere with her work with Jesse. Parker has a strong ability to replicate the vocals tones of teenagers. Her sardonic Paul is particularly well done. In addition, a variety of other voices, ranging from the raspy voice of Paul's grandfather to the silky tones of Jesse, makes this production a treat to listen to. J.C.G.
